Morgan Bain

Alternative soul tunesmith Morgan Bain is a multi award winning songwriter, performer and vocalist whose live performances are talked about long after he leaves the stage and showcase his skills in a fusion of style that is unmistakably his own.

Hailing from Perth, Australia where he says his parents’ extensive record collection influenced his eclectic tastes in music, he also shared a close relationship with his Grandmother who spent years as an opera singer. Bain recalls “the house was always filled with music and when I was really young my Nan would teach me a few things on piano and how to project my voice….she has the most beautiful voice, its haunting.” He formally started learning guitar at 8 and penned his first song at the age of 10. “My songs are definitely a way of getting out whatever I’m feeling about different experiences. I love making music that makes people feel something, whatever that feeling is and how they interpret my music is up to them, just as long as they’re feeling something…that’s what’s really important to me.”

At just 21 years of age the multi-instrumentalist seems to be achieving that by continuing to blow audiences away with his talent. With several recordings under his belt produced at The Wastelands with ARIA award winning producer Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe) and Soundbaker Studio with Rob Agostini, his debut EP ‘Another Day’ received rave reviews nationally with the award winning track ‘Unkind’ gaining radio play.  His next self titled release was toured to the East Coast, with award winning single ‘I Think I’ve Got You’ gaining radio play around the Country, including high rotation in WA.

Upbeat soul influenced single ‘In the Middle’ from his latest EP, spent weeks in the AMRAP/AIRIT Top 10 Great Southern Charts and was co-written with Quartermain, proving Bain’s musical diversity and continuing to boost his fan base.

Recently his music has taken a new direction with him launching his single and video ‘Why Don’t You Stay’ self described as an ‘alternative moody soul sound’ and the release saw him hit the road with his band for a successful National Tour, after showcasing his music on the main stage at the prestigious West Coast Blues’n’Roots Festival.  ‘Why Don’t You Stay’ spent weeks dominating the AMRAP/AIRIT Top 10 Metro and Regional Charts and has been embraced by radio around the country including high rotation on Double J. “The dark soul, moody, cinematic sound is probably the most comfortable I’ve been musically and where I’m heading with my next release” he explains. That latest release is single “Lift You Up” which recently launched to a sold out crowd and once again made the Top 10 in the community radio charts around the country.

The charismatic West Australian known for his incredible vocals has gained recognition supporting artists such as SIMPLY RED, PETE MURRAY, MISSY HIGGINS, COLD CHISEL, ICEHOUSE, XAVIER RUDD, SARAH BLASCO, ESKIMO JOE, ASH GRUNWALD and THIRSTY MERC as well as being a regular on the festival circuit in Australia.

Winner of multiple W.A. MUSIC INDUSTRY awards, his song writing talents have also been acknowledged on a global level several times reaching final status in the INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION (US), UNSIGNED ONLY (US), JOHN LENNON SONGWRITING COMPETITION (US), INTERNATIONAL ACOUSTIC MUSIC AWARDS (US) and winning the SINGERUNIVERSE “Best Vocalist ” (US).

“Seriously high-energy soul, blow-you-backwards-into-the-bar vocals and frickin’ insane musical talent; that’s Morgan Bain summed up…” Annelise Ball – SEMPLESIZE

“It doesn’t take long to fall for Morgan Bain. He’s got one of those voices that has an immediate impact – strong, smoky, beautiful and wrought with emotion. ‘Why Don’t You Stay’ is a modern urban soul gem, with perfectly restrained human beatboxing and big pianos backing his brilliant voice. Bain has been Perth’s best-kept secret for a while now, but that’s about to end. He’s a true talent.” DOUBLE J

“Morgan Bain is a rarity in the music world. While most musicians consider themselves fortunate to build a successful career over many years, Bain has accomplished more than contemporaries twice his age in half the time……he may be WA’s most promising singer-songwriter.” Jennifer Peterson-Ward – XPRESS MAGAZINE

“…one of WA’s most inspirational and energetic talents…delivered the vocals worthy of some of soul’s biggest names….”  Tom Munday – COLOSOUL MAGAZINE

“Once again Morgan Bain blew the audience away with a performance that can only be described as soulful as hell. With his outstanding vocals and natural feel for alternative soul and rock, the award-winning multi-instrumentalist showed us he truly is the embodiment of raw talent. I dare you to go to one of his shows and try not to dance; it’s just impossible” – Sun Mi ClyburnTHE MUSIC.COM.AU
